"In a world where there is so much to be done, I felt strongly impressed that there must be something for me to do".

Meet Daniel O'Brien
Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner -BC
As a psychiatric nurse practitioner, the focus is on providing personalized, thoughtful care in an environment that feels comfortable, supportive, and safe. The goal is to create a space where you can be open and honest about what you’re experiencing, feel heard and understood, and work together toward meaningful change. Building trust and connection is an important part of developing a strong therapeutic relationship and providing effective care.
A whole-person approach recognizes that mental health is influenced by much more than symptoms or a diagnosis. Your experiences, strengths, relationships, environment, and personal goals all matter. Treatment is therefore tailored to the individual rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all approach.
Care may include psychopharmacology, psychotherapy, or a combination of both, depending on your needs and goals. The process is collaborative, with an emphasis on understanding what is happening, identifying what may be getting in the way, and developing practical strategies for meaningful and lasting change.

I am a down-to-earth, caring counselor who has been walking alongside people in recovery for nearly 40 years. My approach is to meet clients where they are—respecting their past while fostering healing through empathy, support, and pragmatic mutual engagement. Therapy with me is a partnership focused on insight, resilience, and meaningful growth.
My approach integrates Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and trauma-informed care with humanistic and existential perspectives.
